The club seeks to make significant improvements, especially in response to challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, through thoughtful funding and community engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligible organizations for the Rotary Club of Moline's grant include those that are 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations (if applicable), serve the community within the Illinois Quad City area, with a focus on Moline/CV.

Organizations must follow the specific application guidelines and submit the required documentation.

Location: The Rotary Club of Moline's grant is primarily available to organizations serving the Illinois Quad City area, with an emphasis on Moline and the surrounding communities.

Project Scope: The project scope for the Rotary Club of Moline's grant includes initiatives that address key community needs in the following areas:

  1. Youth at-risk
  2. Literacy
  3. Education events
  4. Poverty and hunger
  5. Environmental quality
  6. Community safety

Projects should demonstrate a positive impact on the community, with special consideration given to those addressing challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Proposals must follow the specified guidelines and application procedures for consideration.

FUNDING RESTRICTIONS

The Rotary Club of Moline provides grant funding in two categories:

  1. Less than $1,000 – Proposals for funding under $1,000 should include a program description, total project costs, and additional funding sources, if needed.

  2. More than $1,000 – Proposals for funding over $1,000 require more detailed documentation, including proof of 501(c)3 status, an annual report, and a detailed project narrative.

The exact amount awarded depends on the specifics of the project and available funds, with the final decision made by the Rotary Club’s Board of Directors.

The funding restrictions for the Rotary Club of Moline's grant include:

  1. Political fundraising – Requests for political activities or campaigns will not be considered.
  2. Ongoing operating expenses – Grants will not cover routine operating costs or salaries.
  3. Operating costs of start-up programs – Funding is not available for start-up program expenses.
  4. Exclusive group benefits – Grants will not fund events or activities benefiting individuals or exclusive groups.

Additionally, projects must align with the community-focused mission and guidelines set by the Rotary Club.

APPLICATION COMPONENTS

For Proposals Under $1,000:

  • Proof of 501(c)3 status (if applicable).

  • Description of the program.

  • Total costs needed for the project.

  • Other sources of funding (if applicable).

  • Recipient agrees to attend a Rotary Meeting to accept funds with a photo for promotional publications.

For Proposals Over $1,000:

  • Proof of 501(c)3 status (if applicable).

  • Mission statement of the organization.

  • List of current board members and their affiliations.

  • Most recent audited financial statement.

  • Annual report.

  • Agency/project budget.

  • Project narrative: History, community impact, demographics, and fund usage.

  • Statement of how you will acknowledge the Rotary Club of Moline’s support (community/media).

  • Total costs needed for the project.

  • Recipient agrees to attend a Rotary Meeting to accept funds with a photo for promotional publications.

These components must be submitted with the application form following the guidelines provided by the Rotary Club.

DEADLINE

The deadlines for submitting a grant application to the Rotary Club of Moline are as follows:

  • November Board Meeting – Applications must be submitted by November 1st to be considered.
  • May Board Meeting – Applications must be submitted by April 1st to be considered.

Applications must be submitted to the Community Needs Committee, which will review them before they are forwarded to the Board of Directors for final approval at the respective board meetings.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

The Rotary Club of Moline requires all funded projects to provide a report within 30 days of the project’s conclusion, including the following information:

  • How the donation/contribution was used.
  • How the community or media was informed about the funding and partnership with the Rotary Club of Moline.

This reporting helps ensure transparency and accountability, as well as promote the club’s efforts in the community.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Alignment with Rotary’s Mission – The project should align with the Rotary Club’s focus areas: youth at-risk, literacy, education events, poverty and hunger, environmental quality, and community safety.

Impact on the Community – The project should demonstrate a significant positive impact, especially in response to challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Feasibility – The proposal should provide a clear description of how funds will be used, the total project cost, and how additional funding (if needed) will be secured.

Sustainability – Preference will be given to projects that promise long-term benefits or improvements for the community.

Clear and Detailed Proposal – The application should be complete, with required documentation, including a project budget, narrative, and, for larger requests, financial statements and other organizational details.

Community Engagement and Visibility – The project should demonstrate how the Rotary Club’s support will be acknowledged, whether through media coverage or community outreach.

The Community Needs Committee will review the proposals, and those that meet these criteria will be submitted to the Board of Directors for final approval.
