Ameren Illinois Grants
The mission of Ameren Illinois is to enhance the quality of life in the communities it serves by supporting initiatives in arts, civic, environmental, health, and education sectors. The foundation focuses on creating vibrant, diverse communities, improving residents' lives, preserving natural resources, assisting vulnerable citizens, and providing opportunities for youth success. Grants are available to tax-exempt organizations within the Ameren Illinois service area.

ELIGIBILITY
501(c)(3) organizations – Charitable groups recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code
Individuals, political organizations or candidates, and religious or similar groups typically do not qualify for this grant.
Location: Ameren Illinois service area, central and southern Illinois (see website for visual map of geographical scope)
Project Scope: Eligible organizations within the service area can apply for funding with detailed project plans (projects in arts, civic, environmental, health, and education sectors, aiming to enhance community life, protect resources, and promote youth success) and budgets to improve quality of life for residents.
FUNDING RESTRICTIONS
APPLICATION COMPONENTS
Cover letter: Detailing the amount of the grant requested.
IRS determination letter: Certifying 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
IRS Form 990: The most recent filed form, if requested.
For grants over $5,000, applicants must also provide:
- A detailed project budget (including income and expenses).
- A list of board members and executive officers with titles and affiliations.
Applications must be submitted online.
DEADLINE
There is no specific deadline for submitting a grant application to Ameren Illinois. However, applications received after December 1 may be reviewed during the following year. The application review process typically takes 4-6 weeks.

Alignment with focus areas: Projects must address one of the following sectors: arts & culture, civic & community, environment, health & human services, or youth & education.
Community impact: How the project improves the quality of life for residents or addresses local needs.
Clear budget and project plan: A detailed and realistic budget, as well as a well-defined project scope and goals.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, including 501(c)(3) status and being within the service area.
